Our Mission
The Michigan School Testing Conference brings together educators, researchers, and policymakers in partnership with the University of Michigan Marsal Family School of Education and the Michigan Department of Education to advance the effective, ethical, and innovative use of student assessment. Through learning, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas, the conference seeks to improve teaching, strengthen learning, and promote equitable educational outcomes for all students.
Our Goals
The Michigan School Testing Conference seeks to:
Keep educators informed
Provide timely updates on Michigan's statewide assessment system, state policy changes, testing requirements, and emerging initiatives to ensure all stakeholders remain current with evolving standards.
Promote balanced practices
Advocate for the value and critical role of balanced, equitable, and high-quality assessment practices. We emphasize professional educational research as a key driver for improving systemic teaching outcomes across all levels.
Ethical Practice
Provide meaningful opportunities for educators to learn from recognized experts and one another, fostering an environment where ethical evaluation and data usage are standard components of educational leadership.
Innovative Research
Support and promote innovative educational changes that are validated by rigorous research. We strive to bridge the gap between emerging theories and classroom reality through evidence-based assessment strategies.
Collaboration
Strengthen partnerships across Michigan education by facilitating active collaboration between researchers, policymakers, and classroom practitioners to achieve equitable educational outcomes for every student.
